Braassemermeer– Uithoorn – Nieuwkoop(se plassen) – Alphen aan den Rijn – Woubrugge
A beautiful route through the polders of the Groene Hart you sail along the capricious meanders of the Amstel. You can visit the weekly market in Uithoornon Wednesday. In Woerden you can go to the market with regional products on Saturdays. If you have time left, you can still visit Alphen aan den Rijn with Avifauna andArcheon.
Today you will sail across the Braassemermeer, the Drecht and the whimsical meanders of the Amstel to Uithoorn. At the quay you will find some restaurants and shops. Around Uithoorn are several forts that were part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam.
Vandaag vaart u een klein stukje terug over de Amstel naar the Kromme Mijdrecht. After which you will pass the small picturesque village of De Hoef and the Woerdense Verlaat.
After the Woerdense Verlaat you continue on the Grecht (also called Greft) to Woerden. Grecht is moat, the Grecht has been dug – it was the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal from the Middle Ages. The water level of the Grecht is higher than that of the surrounding meadows. Enjoy the special aquatic nature, which is becoming increasingly rare in the Groene Hart. The islands consist of swamp forest and 18th-century reed and hay fields.
At the end of the Grecht you will arrive in Woerden. Visit the regional market of Woerden. This is the oldest regional market in Woerden and worth a visit. At the summer cheese market you can see the old-fashioned handclapping by farmers and countrymen, the authentic cheese listing is updated weekly and the historic cheese bell is rung.
Return to Woubrugge today. From Woerden you follow the Oude Rijn along Bodegraven to Alphen aan den Rijn. If you still have enough time left, you can still visit Alphen aan den Rijn with the Archeon (theme park where the vanished past of the Netherlands comes to life) and the bird park Avifauna. From Alphen aan den Rijn it is no more than 45 minutes sailing to return the boat on time.
