Cheese has been traded here in the same way for hundreds of years. The cheese market takes place every Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (from April to September) on the Waagplein.

Since December 10, 2021, the Beatles Museum Alkmaar has been expanded with two new museums. Namely with the Elvis Museum and the Zeezender Museum. This medieval city church is the largest church above the North Sea Canal and is the largest and most visited monument in Alkmaar. The church is free of charge during the summer and during many weekends.
