Fortified city on the Vecht
Weesp is one of the fourteen fortified cities of our country. Weesp was part of the Dutch Waterline and the Defense Line of Amsterdam. Weesp is home to two tower fortresses: Fort Ossenmarkt and Fort Uitermeer. In the fourteenth century, the first beer breweries and then jenever distilleries ensured great periods of prosperity and prosperity.
