Sailing route for 7 days through Amsterdam, Utrecht en Gouda

Amsterdam – Braassemermeer – Weesp – Loenen aan de Vecht of Loosdrecht(se plassen) – Utrecht – Oudewater – Gouda – Woubrugge

Unique in the Netherlands is that you can sail right through the historic city center in the cheese city of Gouda and Utrecht. Meandering through the Dutch polder and natural landscape, you will sail past beautiful lakes, villages and towns. The river de Vecht offers you a look at the picturesque gardens of the many country houses that are located here.

This route is not recommended for beginners!

It is not possible to sail through Utrecht with the following ships:

Day 1
(4 to 5 hours sailing)

You sail on the Braassemermeer, the Drechtand the Amstel toAmsterdam. (You do not need to buy a vignette for the passage through Amsterdam)

Amsterdam is a bustling city with the canal belt, canal houses, a rich cultural offer, beautiful architecture and a special history. Enjoy the nightlife and museums here.

Experience Amsterdam by walking along the canal belt and beautiful canal houses. Enjoy the rich cultural offer and the special history through various museums such as: the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Rembrandt House Museum, the Anne Frank House and the Hermitage Amsterdam.

Day 2
(2 to 3 hours sailing)

Via the Weespertrekvaartyou can sail to Weespand stay overnight in the city. Weesp is located at the crossroads of various waterways. Walking through the compact old town, you can still taste the atmosphere of centuries ago. Of course there are the pleasant shopping streets and terraces. But when you leave those behind, there are the narrow streets and alleys. You imagine yourself in the Middle Ages. Some places of interest: The City Hall, the Municipal Museum, Former St. Bartholomeus Gast- en Armenweeshuis and the Grote of Laurenskerk.

Day 3
(3 to 4 hours sailing)

Via the beautiful Vechtyou sail towards Loenen aan de Vecht or the Loosdrechtse Plassen. Enjoy the monumental buildings and the beautiful idyllic surroundings.
Tip: Visit cheese and ice cream farm De willegen in Vreeland (before Vreeland from Weesp).

Loenen aan de Vecht dates back to the thirteenth century, but the village has existed since the 10th century. The historic center of the village is dominated by the large church and the bridge over the Vecht. Over the centuries, several estates, castles and country estates have stood in the vicinity of the village. Some, such as the buitenplaats Nieuwerhoek can still be visited in all their glory.

Day 4
(3 to 4 hours sailing)

Today you continue on the VechttoUtrecht. You can sail right through the center of Utrecht. Utrechtis small enough to discover the medieval city center on foot. The city is rich in culture and history and bustling with life with a full cultural agenda, cozy terraces, hospitable restaurants, modern architecture, trendy shops and surprising museums such as: Kaaswaag and Ambachtenmuseum, Museumgouda, the Town Hall and the St. Janskerk.

Day 5
(3 to 4 hours sailing)

You sail across the Hollandse IJssel, via Nieuwegein, in the direction of Gouda. You can spend the night in Oudewaterhalfway through. Many historic buildings, beautiful monuments, art and culture, typical churches and nice museums! Including the Heksenwaag museum, the rope factory, the rope museum ‘De Baanschuur’ and all kinds of references to our rope history. Oudewater binds and fascinates. In addition, there are more museums in the vicinity of Oudewater that are definitely worth a visit for enthusiasts.

Day 6
(3 to 4 hours sailing)

Today you can continue sailing on the Hollandse IJssel to Gouda. In Goudayou can spend the night in the middle of the city. Visit the Cheese Waag and Craft Museum, Museumgouda, the City Hall or the St. Janskerk. If you have the opportunity to be in Gouda on a Thursday morning, you may also be able to visit the traditional cheese market (April – August).

Day 7
(3 hours sailing)

Today back to Woubrugge. Depending on when you need to be back, you can have a leisurely breakfast and go to Goudaor sail further and seeAlphen aan den Rijn or sail across the Braassemermeer.
