Route 5002
Nieuwkoop Gouda

Sailing route 5002
Sailing route for 5 days to Nieuwkoop and Gouda

Woubrugge – Nieuwkoop(se Plassen) – Alphen aan den Rijn – Gouda – Woubrugge

You will be fascinated by the water flora and the call of our many water and meadow birds on the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. The many islands with special flora and fauna show that this is a protected nature reserve for a reason. Visit the Archeon or the bird park Avifauna in Alphen aan den Rijn. And spend the night in the middle of the city of Gouda. Visit the Cheese Waag and Craft Museum, Museumgouda, the City Hall or the St. Janskerk.

Day 1
(1 hour sailing)

Depending on the time of arrival, you have the option to spend the night free of charge in our own harbor or on the Braassemermeer.

The Braassemermeer is a water area where it is pleasantly busy, especially during summer days. The Braassemermeer is a true Valhalla for active water sports enthusiasts. The vast majority of water sports enthusiasts, young and old, sail in optimists and Valken. The Braassemermeer is also a place where surfing is possible in all possible ways. At De Hemmen you can spend the night on the island.

Day 2
(3 hours sailing)

Today you will sail from our base in Woubrugge over the Heimanswetering and the Oude Rijn toZwammerdam. At Zwammerdam you can enter the Nieuwkoopse Plassen via the sluice. For the Nieuwkoopse Plassen you can arrange your boating permit in advance via: www.nieuwkoop.nl/vaarvergunning

The many islands with special flora and fauna show that this is a protected nature reserve for a reason. Natuurmonumenten manages 4 free moorings on the Nieuwkoop Plassen: (A maximum of 3 times 24 hours consecutive overnight stay allowed): De Schepengaten – Machinesloot – Brampjesgat – De Kleine Polder. Of course you can also moor in Nieuwkoop itself.

If you are a beginner sailor, we advise you to sail to Woerden. This is due to the narrow passage when entering and leaving the Nieuwkoop Plassen.

Day 3
(2.5 hours sailing)

From Nieuwkoop you will sail back over the Oude Rijn to Alphen aan den Rijn. Visit the Archeon (theme park where the lost past of the Netherlands comes to life) or the Avifauna bird park. Optionally, you can moor at the Rijnhaven from where it is about a 20-minute walk to Avifauna.

Day 4
(2 hours sailing)

Today you will sail via Alphen aan den Rijn over the Oude Rijn and the Gouwe to Gouda.

In Gouda you can spend the night in the middle of the city. Visit the Cheese Waag and Craft Museum, Museumgouda, the City Hall or the St. Janskerk. If you have the opportunity to be in Gouda on Thursday morning, you can visit the traditional cheese market (from 6 April to the end of August).

Day 5
(3 hours sailing)

On the last day of your trip you will sail back to Woubrugge on the Oude Rijn. If you have time to spare on the day of your return, it may be worthwhile to go to the Braassemermeer and/or the Wijde-AA.
