You can visit Nieuwkoop and sail along the hundreds of islands on the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. If you have time left, you can still visit Alphen aan den Rijn with Avifauna andArcheon. This route is less suitable for beginners, as the passage to or from the Nieuwkoopse Plassen is very narrow (4m.).

Day 1
(3 hours sailing)

Today you will sail across the Braassemermeer, the Drecht and the whimsical meanders of the Amstel to Uithoorn. At the quay you will find some restaurants and shops. Around Uithoorn are several forts that were part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam.

Day 2
(3 hours sailing)

Today you will sail a short distance back from Uithoorn over the Amstel to the Kromme Mijdrecht. After which you will pass the small picturesque village of De Hoef.

Just before the Woerdense Verlaat you can sail up the Nieuwkoopse Plassen via the Kollensloot. After passing through an authentic lock, you will discover the water kingdom of Nieuwkoop. Oasis of peace in the Randstad. You will be fascinated by the water flora and the call of our many water and meadow birds.

The many islands with special flora and fauna show that this is a protected nature reserve for a reason. Natuurmonumenten manages 4 free mooring places on the Nieuwkoopse Plassen: (A maximum of 3 consecutive overnight stays allowed for 24 hours): De Schepengaten – Machinesloot – Brampjesgat – De Kleine Polder. Of course you can also moor in Nieuwkoop itself.

If you still have enough time left, you can still visit Alphen aan den Rijn with the Archeon (theme park where the vanished past of the Netherlands comes to life) and the bird park Avifauna. From Alphen aan den Rijn it is no more than 45 minutes sailing to Woubrugge to return the boat on time.
