In the year 1919, the brothers D. and A. van der Laan started the construction of the shipyard, then it was just a plot of land that was dotted with all kinds of flowers. Over the years, the shipyard expanded more and more. Where the focus was initially on the construction of rowing boats, it eventually shifted to the manufacture of barges, tugboats and inland vessels. Finally, in 1936, the second warehouse was built and more than fifty people were employed. During the war, work declined and after liberation the brothers focused on the winter storage of yachts and repair work. In 1956 the eldest brother withdrew and Mr. A. van der Laan continued the company with his son.
We are a typical family business with the third generation running the business today. The brothers Pieter, Arie and Simon fully manage the company. Simon arranges the rental of yachts and keeps track of the administration, Arie is responsible for the technical maintenance of all boats and Pieter keeps a grip on the entire organization with his all-round employability. The rental of yachts is the core business, but repair and maintenance also continue to occupy a prominent place within the company.
We are located in Woubrugge, in the middle of the largest water-rich area in the Netherlands. An ideal starting point to visit our historic cities, beautiful lakes and nature reserves from the water.
The ideal location of the shipyard is a perfect starting point for the largest sailing area in West Holland. The various sailing routes take you past beautiful places. For example, you sail through characteristic old towns without encountering a lock along the way. This makes sailing routes also very suitable for novice sailors. “These are practical ships that are easy to operate. We strive to teach everyone the best of boating.
